The Bellecour square. This square is one of the oldest in Lyon, dating from the sixteen century. Named after the religious order who had their coventry there, the square is now the quintessence of XIX Century French architecture, a subtle mix of neo byzantine and renaissance style. Locals love having their lunch break there either eating their lunches in one of the numerous benches or enjoying a glass of wine in one of the restaurant terrasses. It is the best way to enjoy this beautiful square made of white stones in which the sun reflects.

Located on the hill of St Just (Accessible with the funicular) this place is not well known so you will find yourself almost alone. A must visit in summer to cool down and get away from the city but also to enjoy the best sunset in Lyon.
